I’m Austria bound! The boots are packed, gloves and hat alongside them. My itinerary is printed and I’m ready to check in. As always, this is how I roll: I arrive at least one day in advance of weddings. This allows me to rest weather concerns aside and to check in far in advance of the event. I am able to scout the location, check for lighting, and collaborate with shooters to determine roles and responsibilities. The beauty of having a photography business is that you can work with and for one another. There are times that I am the primary shooter, and fly a second shooter in for those couples that desire premium coverage. Alternately, I may fly across the state — or across the world — to second shoot exclusive weddings.
Which brings me to this week. I have the pleasure of flying to an area of Austria that I have not yet visited — Salzburg to begin — and shoot with Claire Morgan. Our shared last name does not escape you. Interestingly, we are related, only with different mothers and fathers. Ha ha. No, we are not biological relatives. With that said, we shoot around the world together — and often.
As I approach a week jam-packed with travel and shooting throughout the Salzburg, Mayrhofen and Flachau areas of Austria, I wonder what is on YOUR dream list. Italy is on mine, and it doesn’t escape my analysis that it is just a thumb’s throw away from Austria on the map below. This is the beauty of shooting often in Europe; diverse cultures, cuisines, and wedding traditions lie a “thumb’s throw” away from my location at any given moment. Ciao, friends!
