Grandma’s Pearls of Wisdom

I’ve traveled paths you’ve yet to walk
Learned lessons old and new
And now this wisdom of my life
I’m blessed to share with you
Let kindness spread like sunshine
Embrace those who are sad
Respect their dignity, give them joy
And leave them feeling glad
Forgive those who might hurt you
And though you have your pride
Listen closely to their viewpoint
Try to see the other side
Walk softly when you’re angry
Try not to take offense
Invoke your sense of humor
Laughter’s power is immense!
Express what you are feeling
Your beliefs you should uphold
Don’t shy away from what is right
Be courageous and be bold
Keep hope right in your pocket
It will guide you day by day
Take it out when it is needed
When it’s near, you’ll find a way
Remember friends and family
Of which you are a precious part
Love deeply and love truly
Give freely from your heart
The world is far from perfect
There’s conflict and there’s strife
But you still can make a difference
By how you live your life
And so I’m very blessed to know
The wonders you will do
Because you are my granddaughter
And I believe in you

What a wonderful way to celebrate a bride on her wedding day!

Jewelry by PYRCE

Meet Erica Sanders, Mrs. San Francisco Bay Area. Although she no longer holds the title of Miss Santa Clara, Erica has shown an increasingly high profile in the bay area. In fact, you can find her current magazine cover shoot here. Erica can tell us all about the Glee set and how makeup artists reliably love to accentuate her strong brow line. However, Erica is most enthusiastic on topics that include her favorite charities and how her upcoming Mrs. California contest will help to raise more money for these charities. Interested sponsors should get in touch with Erica!

This styled shoot was fabulous because our team was fun, fresh, and collaborative — just like the perfect team is on a wedding day. We worked in Campbell and then chose Stanford University in Palo Alto for its warm tones — despite the chilly weather. For those of you photogs that are reading, these images were not enhanced with warm tones in post processing; rather, we chose a cloudy white balance so that the look was achieved straight out of the camera. Love that

Heidi Morgan PhotographyHeidi Morgan PhotographyHeidi Morgan PhotographyHeidi Morgan PhotographyIt’s often hard to choose between color and black-and-white versions of photo sequences. Why choose? I enjoy clean and simple elegance. Brides are a match for me when they are romantic, exclusive and elegant.

Heidi Morgan PhotographyI loved these purple tones and the one-of-a-kind piece made (and styled on site) by Joanna Jackson Cleveland of PYRCE. Priscilla Francine Makeup knew just how to complement these tones — with classic elegance and subtle rose lip tones.

Heidi Morgan PhotographyErica easily channeled Eva Longoria through her expression but a vulnerable, sensitive soul through her delicate fingers. I loved the way they captured the dangling pearls from the PYRCE necklace.

There are many options available to a team who wants to continue shooting. In fact, brides often bring this question up: What do you do when you lose daylight? Some people choose to go home. We BRING the light.

Enter accessory change. Red, delicious Pelle Moda Fiby sandals while Priscilla Wright changes the look from daylight into night.

I am always honored to be invited to shoot. It is the ultimate compliment when a bride and her groom select me as their photographer. I have also been asked by industry leaders to shoot by their side at high profile weddings. Celebrity photographer and design duo Bob and Dawn Davis invited me to participate as an associate photographer at a destination wedding, held at the Ritz-Carlton in Laguna Niguel, California.

Lucky us, this wedding was featured in the magazine Weddings by the Ritz-Carlton. Thank you, Bob and Dawn, for this honor. Check out the magazine for full details on this fabulous wedding, which is featured in great detail on more than five pages inside the magazine!

They call it a “macaron.” I just learned the difference between these treasures and a macaroooooon.

Ask Sucre, the ultimate vendor for these treasures. Unless you want a local, homemade version. The platter herein is being carefully arranged by none other than my college student daughter, Kaitlin. She took a class at Love Apple Farms last month, and is working on perfecting yet another baking delight.

These are the perfect gift this Valentine’s Day. Speaking of, before I head to the spa (thanks, honey!), how will you spend your Valentine’s Day?

Honey, you can’t convince me that girls dress up solely for their men. I believe that women also inspire each other, and that they appreciate each other’s wardrobe, color palette, and even lunchroom snacks! Turns out, I might be on to something, says mid-day.com. I see bridal showers hitting the national scene, and these often have details as divine as the weddings themselves, with only each other to please.

This week? Might be a little different. As with a wedding day, brides and fiances are drawn to all things red, all things romantic. VALENTINE’S DAY is on Tuesday, for those of you friends who’d forgotten it was coming!

I will blog much, much more of our recent styled shoot in the very near future. In the meantime, I’m trying to find a way to make these Pelle Modas just one size larger == to fit my own feet!

Pelle Moda Fiby Sandals

Standing in front of the mirror, I envision these treasures living far beyond the wedding day — dressing these up with a little black dress, or even down with jeans and a matching red lip. Speaking of, don’t you just LOVE Priscilla Wright’s beautiful red lips? These are her own, and will last through her Valentine’s Day with little or no touch up. I guessed it, and she confirmed the color: None other than Russian Red by MAC.

ValentineOh, I know. I’ve heard it already: Those of you who love chocolate are wondering all about that romantic chocolate heart lollipop! If you haven’t been to the local World Market, you must go!  We also scored some hand-painted chocolate hearts there, which worked perfectly alongside Joanna Jackson Cleveland’s handmade jewelry pieces by PYRCE.
